Stokes Croft is a weird part of Bristol, run down and forgotten by town planners it has a strong community and vibrant feel. There are numerous agenda driven stories circulating around the events of the night. The locals painted by police and the authorities as yobs and vice versa. All i know is this is probably the best shot video of public unrest i have ever seen! What i know of the local people is that they are passionate about their forgotten corner of town, their comunity and the unity they have found from direct action wether that is the graffiti or their humorous but effective self organization (see http://www.prsc.org.uk/). Having exhibited, worked and painted in the street shown i can vouch for them being a self helping community of non aggressive, thoughtful people. Free Stokes Croft!

Top of the world Ma

A childhood dream was realised on thursday as i was invited for drinks at the GPO tower (now called the BT tower). I always visit revolving restaurants when i travel and have always wanted to visit Londons only one. Closed since 1980 after a bomb attack by the IRA, the security involved in a visit is super tight, the lift travels at a ridiculous speed (the fastest in europe) and your ears pop as it hurtles up. I have to thank Bene for buying the charity tickets for the evening (White Hat Ball) , a great night!
Getting up in the school loos
Its easy to complain and harder to fix complaints. In this time of public spending cuts the friction between supply and demand of society and its infrastructure are at crisis. In the end i suppose, the message is if you want it done then fix it yourself. So we did, the loos for years 5 + 6 were in poor order and the parents teachers and care-taking staff all pitched in to repaint and spruce them up. A long day for the one coat crew and the kind help of Zadok from dead leg and Plastic bones.
Exquisite Corpse
Unique canvas 105cm x 75cm
The work was created using photographs taken in the modified Mighty Booth
at the Royal Academy of Art on the 19th of February 2011 for the Club
Monaco UK launch.
These photographs were cut and pasted, in a manor based loosely on the
Exquisite corpse technique invented by Surrealists, at the beginning
of the 20th century. The work will be auctioned at Sotherby’s on the 22nd of March, the proceeds going to the Royal Academy of Art.
The crew of ‘nutters’ behind Creative Routes ‘MUSES CAFE’ events are once more teaming up with campaigning organisation MAD PRIDE to stage a special event to mark the international ‘HOLOCAUST DAY’ memorial.
In Germany in the 1930’s the Nazi’s put out propaganda ‘newsreels’ showing images of mentally ill and disabled people alongside slogans telling the taxpaying population that these ‘degenerate’ people were costing them money to keep alive as a justification for the ‘final solution’ of exterminating them in the concentration camps.
MAD PRIDE are asking the question ‘how far does this differ from the current government and media propaganda which aims to label all welfare benefit recipients as ‘scroungers’?’
Vulnerable people at the bottom of the social ladder are once again being made to be the scapegoat for the bankers and capitalists reckless mishandling of the economy.

Mad Pride have asked me to provide the placards and design tee shirts for the demo on the 26th of October. So here’s the finished item. The papers are starting to break down the proposed cuts, and to be honest they are frightening. Why should the most vulnerable citizens pay for the mistakes of our richest ? Ah… thats right, because they have no voice or power. Glad we live in a caring society eh? Come along on the 26th and support our nations Mad people, help them get the care they deserve!
They are back! They are Mad and they are proud! The Dotmasters have had a long history with the Mad Pride events over the years, providing visuals for their gigs and events. With the swinging cuts planned in both the social services and sickness benefits it seems the time for MAD action is nigh. Mad Pride is supporting survivors of the mental health system to organize a Day of Action on 26th October. This will be just after the release of the Government’s “shock and awe” Spending Review – which will outline cuts from 2011. Specific details of the event will be finalised over the coming week check Mad Pride or here for details.
